This is the easiest way for me to split files on my Ubuntu.

1st, we need get & install the application (Gnome Split).
1 ) Launch your browser & go to www.gnome-split.org.
2 ) Click the Download button & click on Ubuntu button (Ubuntu symbol).
3 ) Then you will be redirected to gnome-split page on launchpad.net.
4 ) Click on View package details & click on gnome-split (according to your Ubuntu version).
5 ) Pick the latest .deb file & click on it to download it on your computer.
6 ) After the file downloaded successfully, double click on it (gnome-splitxxxxx.deb).
+ Ubuntu Software Center should be launch automatically. If nothing happen, please make sure that you give the file permission to execute.
+ To give the permission, right click on the .deb file, click Properties, click the Permissions tab and check the execute box. (Execute: [ ] Allow executing file as program).
7 ) Click Install on the Ubuntu Software Center.
8 ) Enter your password & click authenticate to proceed with the installation.
+ It will take a moment for the gnome split to be install completely.
+ Installation time may vary.

2nd, steps to split a file.
1 ) Launch Gnome Split. Application .. Accessories .. Gnome Split.
2 ) Pick Split a file & click Apply.
3 ) On the File to split, click the button after the words to select the file you want split then click Forward.
4 ) Enter a number of your choice. (How many files as the end result you want the file to be divided).
5 ) Click Forward & click Apply. Done.

3rd, to merge splitted files.
1 ) On Gnome Split Assistant, pick Merge several files & click Apply.
2 ) Then use the button to select the file that you want to merge.
3 ) Click Forward & Apply. Done.

    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnome-split-team/ppa

    sudo apt-get update

    sudo install gnome-split

  • Hi ! I like your video and i have linux mint 8 and i would like to install gome split on my system but i can not find the gnome split witch is compatible with my version ,so can you give me please the link of my version linux mint 8 to download it and install it, because i have a file of 8 gb to diveded it .thanks friend
