Could I use this design but for a carpet?

Yes you can, but I prefer to tie moss to small rocks, preferably flat type, and arrange on the area you want to have the carpet. ~Happy aquascaping :D

good idea, it looks ok even now! I live in the UK and I once put java moss in an outside pool in the summer - I thought it would die in the winter here especially as ice formed on top of the water but it didnt!! the next spring it started growing again even faster - Java moss is tough!

Too bad there's no update :( No one ever seems to post one. I did a java moss wall 6 months ago and posted both a how to and a couple of updates on my channel if anyone is interested.

@poojkhgf Thanks for posting that... I've always wondered whether I'd be able to grow it outside. I guess we have to be careful with it though; it could become an 'invasive' species. Willow moss (our native species) grows really well btw if you're looking for an outdoor moss.
