This keyboard just arrived, and I made a little video to show you guys some of the main features of it, give you some information about mechanical keyboards, and do a little typing demonstration showing the noise levels and n-key rollover. Please excuse my voice as I was a bit sick at the time.

  • i have a job interview coming up with this company in austin, tx.i'm not much of a tech geek, so i'm just wondering what's the advantage/disadvantage of having/using a mechanical keyboard?

  • @getfit660 Not sure what the type of keyboard has to do with your job interview haha. But basically if you spend a lot of time using a keyboard at work or at home, it just makes the whole experience nicer. A good analogy I heard is that its like getting very comfortable shoes if you work as a waiter or a cashier, because you are standing all day. Mechanical keyboards should improve your accuracy as well, but not by a huge margin. There are no disadvantages except for mobility, afaik

  • So I really need the adapter to get the rollover to work? My computer only has a USB port..

  • @PolarBearsFtw True Nkey rollover is only supported by a PS/2 connection from the motherboard, so unfortunately not even an adapter will help you here. However Corsair has come out with a kind of semi-NKR on their new Vengeance K60 and K90 keyboards, which do 20 simultaneous key presses through just USB connection. They both use Cherry MX Red switches, which have a very light actuation force and no tactile feel. You might want to check those out on Corsair's website.

  • @HardwareHobbyist So even if I bought a PS/2 connector that works through a USB hub the N-key rollover wouldn't work? I know I am definitely getting a Daskeyboard ultimate, but I would like to have the N-key if at all possible

  • @PolarBearsFtw The only way it will work is if your motherboard has a PS/2 connector on its back panel. I am almost 100% sure of this, but you might want to double check.

  • @Mikolay1995 You lost your Right ear somewhere?

  • @HardwareHobbyist Actually that is not true.. There is somekeyboards wich support Full Nkey rolldover example Corsair and Qpad and Ducky and some other Nkey roll over is limited to 6 becosh of Keyboard/Software/firmware. With USB you are actually able to push +200 keys same time and ps/2 should be able to ~6 sametime. Only becosh it can Full nkey roll over becosh it has memory to use so it can do it..

  • My left ear is lonely :(

  • Who cares about N-Key roll over anyway? Unless your bashing your head on the keyboard then it's really not a big deal.

  • I had a Das for a few months and got sick of the gloss. Decided to sell it and got myself a Filco. I will never look back.

  • You can so clearly hear that it has MX cherry blue switches. I have a Blackwidow ultimate myself and It has the same switches, really love the sound of them.

  • @HardwareHobbyist Hey Bill I got my keyboard a while back and I just wanted to tell you that it is a pure joy to type on the Brown switches! The keys are just so light compared to the membrane keyboard that I was using before! I'm probably going to try the Reds next if I ever get a chance as those are even lighter :)
