When considering how many artists borrowed from Moebius' style I think it is fair for him to be aware that he has had a profound influence on his contemporaries. If that means claiming a sense of genius it is only because others have affirmed that. Giger or Artaud, examples of very self-critical and powerfully self-aware artists, have shown similar abilities to be at peace with adopting a sense of recognizing their genuis. It's not always a luxury of arrogance but a position of acceptance.

Giraud is generally self-deprecating and humble in many ways. He is intensely internal and in recognition of what goes on in his mind and in the history of his work and how that translates to his practice. I believe his comment about "genius" comes from a similar place of being very self aware of the product of his work and internal talent.

Ganz neuen raum

@ehcmier Ok, let me put it this way, in my humble opinion, wheter he said it or not, he IS a genius. His art moves me, fascinates me, his creativity is unmatched.
