  • I hope that there won't be someone trying to captialize on Byberry, trying to make a "Blair Witch Project," or something of the kind, no conscientous human being will truly benefit from mocking this structure that housed not only mentally ill human beings but not having remorse of various inhumane ways these patients died. The main library in Philly 19th & Vine Street, have information about this hospital.

  • The entire campus of buildings was demolished in 2006. There were no graves on the property.

  • @yaggy9 Not entire campus was demolished, there is still "self help" wich was part of the byberry. There is also this building with cemented doors and windows on southamton rd. By the way, who knows whats there and why they kept it standing ? and last but not least there is administrative building across the roosevelt blvd. It is office building right now.

  • @vlipford There actually are rumors of a movie called "The Byberry Project". I hope they don't make it. I agree with you on this.

  • Sorry for the duplicate postings but, YT commonly accepts messages but doesn't allow them to show up right away; at least it does that to me & I have to wait, sometimes 10 minutes, sometimes a day, ..for them to show up!

Search opacity for Radical Eds postings about bodies at Byberry. They guy knows what he is talking about! - The graveyard really is there!!

  • I don't know if they are still using it today but, I have seen grounds keepers/landscapers working on this graveyard (It's a Potters Field...think NO headstones!) as recently as within the last decade. There are a thousand or so other little details which I could tell you, which would help you to locate this place is you weren't being so ignorant.

Seriously dude, just do a little research; honestly, it's not that hard!!

  • It's located next to a soccer field, which is itself located near the intersection of Mechanicsville & Dunks Ferry Rd, just down the street from the Parkwood Youth Organization. The east/northeast end of the graveyard is approximately 200 feet from Poquessing Creek.

This is the same graveyard that "The Boy In The Box" was buried in until about 1999, when they dug him up for a DNA sample to try and solve his murder. I could take you there and point at it. It really does exist!

  • Wrong!!

There are graves on the original property! It is a Potters Field. It is not considered to be a part of Byberry as we look at it today bc urban renewal sliced & diced the land up into smaller bits & pieces decades ago,...taking Byberry property from 850+ acres to about 120!

The address is approximately 12840 Dunks Ferry Rd (Or 14000 Dunks Ferry Rd. Take a look at Google Maps. Their addresses are VERY approximate & tend to be out of whack!)

  • Actually, there is a Potters Field on the original property. It is still there but, bc urban renewal shrunk the property down to the size that we know it to be today, & what it has been for years; 130 acres approximately from its original size of 850 +acres. So, bc of this urban renewal the graveyard isn't given the recognition that it deserves bc so few ppl realize that this graveyard was used as the place where patients were buried while they were in the care of this mental hospital.
