40 years old,ex army,father of a beautiful 2 yr old boy myself now,God forbid anything ever happens to him. It still brings atear to my eye,first heard this in the film Rush with Jason Patric,made me cry then too,sought out the original then found out what it was about and my heart broke,a fathers words for his lost son...words cant express what this song does,but what a beautiful song.

This song is about the death of his son, I think he's talking about how he himself did drugs, and drank and did allot of bad things, And how his son was so young and pure, and eric feels like he isn't good enough to see his son in heaven,, But i believe Eric will see his son again, :)
