How would we define this music - I know I enjoy it a lot more than the "pop" music that seems to be taking over the WCS dances in the Puget Sound region... :-((

this is the classic division, which means routines without lifts or extended loss of connection. For improvised competitive swing look for "Strictly Swing"- improvise with a known partner (though usually not you normal partner) or "Jack and Jill" - improvised with a random partner.
This is definitely a west coast swing song. As well as other styles of swing.

I do not know about the americans championships rules, but I am pretty sure that this dance was chreogerapherd.

Fair enough

Most people where I live prefer faster ones.

Yes, apologies, a slip of the tongue. Doesn't change the fact that it's a great tune to West Coast to!

Lindy and East coast aren't the same thing, ya know.
What difference does it make that it was choreographed? Most of the dancing I've seem has been choreographed. If they meet the qualifications of the contest they're competing in, why complain. Besides, they wouldn't have come up with those smooth moves if they were freestyling (may not be the correct term since I'm not familiar with the dance lingo). Don't be jealous because you couldn't come up with such stylish moves. I thought they were fabulous. I wish I could dance like that.

it is a division for choreographed routines, and most of the moves they could do "freestyling" because there are certain patterns that are necessary and can be elongated to make it entertaining.
