Force wasn't anywhere to be found when I was living @ SoCal dragstrips from 1964 thru the end of the decade. Kalitta was driving his Bounty Hunter, first with the Chrysler, then the 427 SOHC Ford "cammer" and finally the 429 Ford motor. I saw Dixon's dad (Larry, Sr.) many times (Lions, Irwindale, OCIR, Fontana & Pomona) driving the Howard Cam "Rattler" with that butt-ugly Scott fuel injection on top of the 6-71.
