Is She mezzo?
-
The foto shows Polaski as "Isolde" in Berlin - the voice is Meiers! Meier has never sung and will never sing the role of Brünnhilde in a "Ring"-staging (her own words). But since long she is singing parts of it in concerts and on cd.

As a commentor below indicated, I believe this is Deborah Polaski, not Waltraud Meier
-
Like gustavyeung was saying: her voice bears personality. True enough. But her real charisma lies in her stage presence. (Watch her stunning Klytaemnestra!) Devoid of her acting however, I find her voice lacks warmth and evenness. Top notes sound risky and altogether, dare I say, a little acid …

Hi all,
Several people have pointed out that the image in my video is not Waltraud Meier.
I am a relatively new to the world of Wagner opera, and do not know Deborah Polaski, but i would just like say that the credits on the photo i used say that it is Waltraud Meier. But i accept that the owner of the photo may be wrong.
I can't post a link on here, but you can message me for a link to the original photo.
Thanks for your comments and appreciation of this wonderful music.
Best Regards.

Dear DjangoMan,
I really enjoy this recording. But believe me, the credits on the photo are wrong. I saw the "Tristan" it dates from in Berlin (Staatsoper) - also the photo itself, which is sold there. Polaski was the first cast of that production. After that, Meier sang it the most time, therefore the opera mixed photos of both (if you google "Polaski" as "Isolde" you'll find it soon). On the webside of the staatsoper berlin you'll also find it - but without credits. Regards!

Ok, thanks for the information.
Alas, it is too late for me to change the video, and YouTube will no longer let me upload longer videos for some reason, so it will have to stay as it is.
Thanks again, enjoy the music. :-)
