Make sure you watch in HD.
This is my entry for ER92840 's "Make great Movie" contest. This was fun to shoot but was challenging to say the least for all involved. I call this a "Taco Western" because the "Spaghetti Westerns" were all Italio directed so this is a Taco Western for obvious reasons.
This is meant to be a comedy western idea. I think it is funny, watch it and tell me what you think. I am sure you will be surprised.
BTW - ER92840, anyone here on YouTube can verify that this would be my first time winning anything on YouTube. I think the only thing I have won to date is the sights of haters and an occasional tag response.
Behind the scenes:
This was shot at the Mid-Continent Train Museum in North Freedom. The engine in the opening credit is one that we used to play on as kids in Waukesha. It sat there many years as a tourist attractor for the local themed resturant before it was moved to North Freedom Train Museum for restoration/preservation.
It is not operational yet and don't know if it will ever be again. Restoring the boiler alone costs near 500,000 and seeing that this Museum operates on donations and train rides alone the money is slim many times.
Here is their website.

It was sunny, but it was 20 degrees with a 15 mph gust which without a shotgun mic made on scene audio impossible. There was plans for dialogue early in this project however they had to be scrapped because of weather conditions.
This was a challenging shot as the elements were conspiring against us making great lighting but impossible temperatures to work with. Shots had to be done quickly as all I could think about is getting my winter coat back on.
Including scene and wardrobe changes this was all shot in about 45 minutes. The fact that we were working with only one camera made this shot harder as I did not have scene background that needed to correct one camera angle and extraneous stuff, see if you can figure out where it is.
Some of the wardrobe was stuff I had around and some bought from St. Vinnies. The hat was one that i had for a long time and has spent the last 5 years in a dank part of my garage. When I found it, it looked hopeless, it was grossly misshapen and look like it belonged on Festus rather than a bad guy, much less a good guy. Make a hat wet and then stomp on it and let it dry best describes what this hat looked like.
After a whole day of cleaning, steaming, and shaping it finally found most of it old shape as you can see in the clip.
The color settings and all editing was done in Sony Vegas. The music score was created in Sony Cinescore 1.0, sound effects are among the BBC royalty free broadcast collection.
