Another rare clip of Olivia Newton-John on HSV-7 Melbourne's afternoon kid's session, "The Happy Show".

It dates from February 1965 - the show's hostess, "Lovely Anne" Watt, was on her honeymoon, and 16-year-old Olivia filled in.

Others to feature are "Happy" Hammond, "Princess" Panda, "Cousin Roy" Lyons, John D'Arcy, Parer the Magician, and Vic "Funnyface" Gordon.

  • Which one is Olivia Newton John?

  • @Seattlecarnut - That's her second from left...

  • @Conniptions886 To the left of the man with the hat, or one more to the left?

  • @Seattlecarnut - From the left side of the screen, with the black sash around her waist...

  • "Funny face" Vic Gordon is my grandpa so thank you very much for uploading this - it keeps his memory alive :)

  • I was always a huge fan of Vic's - got an enormous amount of his TV work, mostly "Matlock Police", "Young Ramsay", and so on...

  • Actually, this show was from January 1965, Sir Winston having died on the 24th of that month (unless of course, airmail was slow back then).

As for Olivia...I'm sure a lot of dads and uncles and big brothers watching the show with the kids honestly loved her and were hopelessly devoted to her then. You can tell that Big John standing next to her wishes he could get physical with her!

  • This is a reminder of just how little it took to hold the attention of audiences (of any age) back in the 60s. Can you imagine a TV program nowadays showing a solid five minute block of nothing but kids drinking Coke while a skating rink organ plays "Happy Days Are Here Again" in the background?

  • Geez all those little kids are at least 50 now. I wonder how many are dead?

  • ..olivia was a cute teen..!

  • I worked with Happy (Harry) Hammond in the 70's and he was exactly like this off screen, a gentleman who could always make us smile, simply by being around.

  • @Conniptions886 Ah! I see her! She was just a teenager at the time.

  • such a lovely memory thank you very much for posting this

  • wow that was the year and month i was born. awesome clip.
