  • I dont know where you found these videos, but Im glad you did. Thank you for allowing me to re-live the Triple Crown as I saw it on tv way back in 1973. Its nice to know that Im ok for being horse crazy, Secretariat is my and always has been my horse Hero. T%hank you

  • I'm happy you had this opportunity to relive this once-in-a-lifetime event.

    You are very welcome.

  • My God, i remember that like it was yesterday, thye CBS guy calling Gov Holton "Gov Horton".

  • Jack Whitaker, while an outstanding host, did have the occasional casual slip of the tongue. I think his genuine excitement sometimes overtook his tongue, which is refreshing. I noticed he said Gov. Rockefell"a" just previous to Gov. "Horton". He correctly said Rockefell"er" a little bit later although he still mistakenly said Horton.

Oh well, small potatoes. Idiosyncrasies aside, Mr. Whitaker was a class act all the way.

    Take care.

  • This is incredible footage. Thank you!

  • Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.

    Take care.

  • Just amazing truly

  • THANK you so very much for posting these videos! Oh, what a terrific and beautiful horse this was! Absolutely thrilling and inspiring footage.

  • truly the best ever. I was 9 in 1973 and still remember like it was yesterday all of the talke about this horse. I follow horse racing, and there has not been any horse like this one, his son Risen Star was close, if not for getting nosed out at the KD by an error in the riding, he also would have won the triple and at that time having the second best Belmont ever right bedind his daddy. We will never see any athlete like him again, he was a freak of nature, in a good way. RIP Secretatiat

  • i wasn't alive yet when this took place

but i'm so happy that i am an equestrian and that i saw the movie, watched all the races

and dressed my own horse as him for halloween for a show

    this made me cry

  • OMG! this horse had an engine inside not a heart. Thank you for posting this and allowing me to watch the real race.

  • Still amazing and awesome!

  • @shazaz2122 What a memory! I own a great granddaughter of both Secratriate and Northern Dancer. Penny is my hero and role model. We are breeding my girl to a son of Gallant Man. I hope to see another triple crown before I die.

  • far more glorious than a tremendous machine, because he was heart, flesh and spirit. this race was a hammer. sorry he had to blow up Sham and the rest of the field, but what can you do when you are the real deal of greatness? be great.

  • WOW!!!! What a class act everyone was during this time! The broadcast, the "horse families"... the whole thing. A whole different era! This was soooo unbelievable! WHEW!

  • This was great to watch! Thanks so much for posting. What a run!!! Remember it from my childhood.
