The Touareg the same axle articulation of the Land Cruiser, but you can compensate that using locking differentials and using ride height control. A stock Touareg has center diff lock and low range gearbox and optional ride height control and rear diff-lock. Those options are more than enough to do the same thing the Land Cruiser did. A fully loaded Touareg is a very capable offroader.
