Dangit Chris. I like a lot of what you say ... but you are self-refuting. Why do you insult Juniorbaconchee for a view that you and I both believe is wrong? Why must you insult dissenters?
I think 9/11 truthers are spectacularly wrong ... however, he is a super cool guy. He treats people respectfully and has great ideas. Just misses the mark with one.

I agree to some extent with your views on the military, but I do think the sense of entitlement and false pride that is promoted by the military and the public to bow to is nonsense. Being in the military shouldn't automatically mean those people are brave or heroic. It's all on an individual basis. If anything, paramedics and firefighters are heroic in a more frequent basis.
Not saying you disagree, Chris. Just pointing out a complaint many anti-military people have.

A few nukes would be deterrent enough. Without health care and education the economy would crumble; you need to be healthy and educated for the system to work.
The way in which the rule of law is upheld (retribution? deterent? rehabilitation? prevention?)and what the rights it defends are (is free speech one? the right to food/healthcare/education? is happiness a right? What about equality?).
The constitution has nothing to do with me being as I'm British :P

Also, I'm not sure how we would defend against other countries taking power over us.Would we have a strong enough military? These are some good questions, I wish there was an easy answer.

yes your right. I would be quick and say we should replace our current form of government with anarchy... but shoot, As soon as the government that is set up is overthrown , someone or some group with enough resources to willed power over everybody else will eventually filled the void again and my be even worse in suppressing civil liberties than the previous form of government. Thats a conundrum

Well there's supposed to be checks and balances...That shit broke years ago with corruption. We need good people in office, but no politician is really any good morally. I wonder if it is simply human nature.
