(Joe Hisaishi) Summer - Sungmin Lee

Hi guys!

Here's the an guitar version of Joe Hisaishi's Summer which comes from the Japanese movie Kikujiro.

I personally think this is a great song due to the fun and joyful melody. I have not seen the movie Kikujiro, but just by looking at the movie's pictures, I think that this song will fit right in.

If you see in the end of the video, I start tapping the guitar bridge. I was hoping for a little percussive sound, but it didn't come out of the pickup. I think my pickup is right below the bridge, and since when I tap the body, there is no sound that gets "picked up" by the pickup,I tried tapping the bridge, but I still got no sound.

What's the tuning on this Sungmin? I want to pick this up by ear...oh god, that's going to be disastrous aha

When you pick stuff up by ear, do you write down the notes as you figure it out, or do you just memorize it?

@randomcheezitperson The tuning it DADEAD. :) I actually write it down on tab paper. I'm able to memorize as well as Sungha haha. :P Hope you can play this piece! :)

Great job again, Sungmin, this song seemed to have a fun, catchy melody and you played really well.

I'm curious, when you learn a new song do you learn by tab? If yes, do you just kind of look at the tab number and not the musical notations to figure out how to play? If yes (again, haha) do you think you learned something from the tab? Cause as a newbie (well, I hope you remember me now), I still think learning by tab is not good for guitar learners' development. You think so?

@toilabuiducanh Thanks! :) I actually didn't use a tab for this one. I picked it up by ear. Using tabs are ok. It's not going to hurt you, but I do suggest you to pick up some songs by ear too because it will help you a lot in the future with your playing. :)
