Thanks for the advice but no thanks and you probably have misread my comment. I want to get to a great college one of the IV league schools. It would be much easier for me to get in because of this thing so called "legacy". Which means if I have the same amount of scores as one person I will be picked over them.

You aren't required to do anything, simply because your brother has taken a certain path does not mean you have to follow in his footsteps, in fact, thinking in such a way will only deny you admissions. You have to be unique and you have to find your own path.

Good luck getting in--this past year, the acceptance rate was 9% and will probably drop lower this year.

Just adding to what zaksti said: Stanford's financial aid policy is very, very generous, meaning that students end up paying very little. Roughly 80% of Stanford's students receive financial aid. For families making up to $100k/year, tuition (~$36k) is free, effectively making Stanford cheaper than most public schools (including Berkeley, UCLA, etc.). <$45k = full scholarship, <$60k = free tuition & room/board, and <$150k = significantly reduced tuition.

well if ur gonna go to stanford i think you would be smart enough to get free money. thats wat my girl friend did and her parents only have to pay $5000 a year to go to one of the best schools in the world! also stanford has some of the best people i have ever met!

people are such idiots.
by people i mean people on this board. they have no idea what higher education is or what value people get from universities. It's not just CS106A (intro to computer science), it's also about finding real life applications to classes. It's courses like this that separate stanfprd from most other schools. In that same direction, it's courses like this that are only valued by few... those who know/want to know how to apply tools they've learned.
