The hip lift is really just a variation of single leg glute bridge that allows for greater ROM. Strength Coach and researcher Brett Contreras has established that this exercise has the highest glute max EMG of any exercise he studied.

  • i used a exercise ball though on the ground.

  • i tried this last night at the gym it puts alot of strain on my hamstrings and calves.

  • Useful video. As an ectomorph (completely opposite body type than Mike), I can see why this exercise gives me trouble--seems harder to keep lumbar as stable as shown in the video if your torso is significantly longer.
