Gift of a Friend

Hannah and I have been friends for a little while now. My name is Hayley Burke. Im 17. My best friend in the entire world is Hannah Vega. Shes 16. She may be a year younger than me but she acts older than she is.

When I was very little, I used to hang out with this little boy. His name is David. He was the nicest boy you would ever meet. He would protect you when you can do it yourself, and he would just be there for you through your ups and downs. He grew up to be a great guy, but with a lot of anger.

As we grew up, he and I were slpit apart. His dad was in the army when we were in 1st and 2nd grade so David had to move from Atlantic City, all the way to California. I missed him alot, but we still kept in touch on the phone. When we were old enough to email, basically thats all we did. Then suddenly, one day, I stopped hearing from him. I thought he forgot about me. So i moved on.

When I turned 15, I would go down to florida to visit my mom. She went out with her friends one night and her one friend left her son Jeff at my moms condo. He had asked his friends to bring him some beer and alcohol. His friends did, but then left. I started to drink away everything and i totally forgot about David.

On Spetember 8, 2008. I met Hannah. I just got onto the bus after school, and it was crowed so i asked her if i could sit with her and she said, "Yupp." From that day on, we've been best friends. Yes we've had a fights, but nothings seperated us. Not even a guy. Not that i can remember anyways.

But around january 2010, I met up with David and found out he moved back to Summerton. That was the closet town with all the shopping. He was being homeschooled with his little sister Crystal.

David and I started to secretly date then. We lasted for 6 months until my parents found out. Boy were they mad. But we stayed friends as usuaul. Then in June, Hannah was having guy trouble. He requested her on myspace and they instantly connected.

Then, Hannahs boyfriend, Tony, ended their relationship. Hannah went into a downword spiral and crashed. I tried helping but nothing worked. What made it worse was it happened the day before our first final exams. That was a huge mistake on his part. But then again he was 14, 2 years younger than her, what are ya gonna do?

Well, David came in again and picked up the pieces and sernaded her i dont know how but he did. And they started to date. A week later he and her broke up because he went to florida. But there was another reason. David and her got into an arguement because she broke it off. And he went crazy. I mean When I was on the phone with her, he snuck over to my house and was banging on the door and scaring the living shit out of me.

He was like about to rape me. But he eventually ran away. His friends Mike and Austin helped him, but they're the fruit loops, thats just what me and Hann call them.

While David was in Florida, we were having the time of our lives. But when i went down to florida to go visit my mom once again, we met up with him and my friend Lexi, who just happened to be his new girlfriend. the next night, saturday, he found out that he got lexi pregnant, and he got mad and he stormed out of my aunts apartment. He didnt know where he was going. But all i knew was that he had better walk through that door so we could go to universal tomorrow as friends.

But no. The police showed up 10 minutes later saying he died in a horrible car crash. I cried so hard i could cry anymore the next day. That night, lexi, my mom, my aunt and i went to my aunts boyfriends house and drank everything away and played guitar hero. I couldnt take it anymore. When i told hannah, she died inside. She couldnt express anything.

Davids funeral was tasteful, and beautiful. I had to say a speech that next thrusday, but as i got up to say it, i threw up on lexi cause she had to take it through the middle.

David Parker will never be forgotten. This is the story of how he made mine and my best friends life so much better.
