no easies way isnt tofight with lightning its to resist the arch mage is dead right??? ever think about looting his place ?? in his cabninent in the college there are some boots and potions the boots resist shockby 40% and the potion 30% giving 70% overall best bet drink potion wear boots attack the hell out of him drink mana potions you get there also and win up close easy and at any level.

The staff is called "Staff of Jyrik Gauldurson"....which you get from an earlier dungeon in this same quest series. You can use any staff to do this really, just spam it super quick.

I think I was only level 7-8, I did no other quests in the game except the quest leading to this boss. The staff is from the first mini-boss in the Saarthal excavation site. (First dungeon for the magic school quest series)
