van gogh's genius is in his use of line and color. any joe can paint something beautiful given enough time and layers of paint - but van gogh's choice of line to create both shape, shadow and movement it's astounding even today. his genius is often unappreciated if you ask me - which I suppose wouldn't be much different then when he lived.

I like the different rendition of his portrait. Good job.

i appreciate your love for Vincent van Gogh but photoshop is obscene when applied to a real painting. Sorry but impasto, which Vincent practiced, is out of your reach.

I think this is beautiful.
SURE, it's copying the original.
But does it still not take any skill to recreate something so amazing??
Isn't the image produced here still amazing? How many of you complainers out there can do what this artist did? Exactly. Not a lot. Congratulations to this artist, for exploring art through the recreation of masterpieces through new technology. I applaud you for thinking outside the box, despite what these old jerks have to say.
Your work is beautiful.

it is easier to copy a picture ahead. because you can concentrate on formal things.
and my old teacher was georg baselitz (berlin, udk). so it is a little kind of tribute ;)

how long did you paint this?

6 hours. 3 for the first part, 3 for the free repaint.

Großartig. Haben sie wirklich zu Beginn kopfüber gezeichnet?

ja. das ist, wenn man etwas kopieren will, viel einfacher.
