This is a comparison of N Scale Kato F7 locomotives, one with stock headlight and the other with a Digitrax decoder installed as well as some custom lighting effects by Jerry Rowley for Bruce DeMaeyer and Fifer Hobby Supply.

  • Are those engines minitrix and if not what company are they because I have a minitrix n scale Santa fe alco diesel and it looks like It would light up but I doesn't

  • They are Kato but your older Minitrix should have some sort of light.

    Thanks , Mike

  • That's cool Bruce DeMaeyer is my papa(grandpa)

  • Cool stuff man! You do have to be a pro to do this stuff with N scale. I do want to make a couple corrections for you. 1. F units had a Mar's light, not a gyro light. (Unless Santa Fe was doing something different from other roads.) The Mar's light is a figure eight patter and the gyro light is a regular circle pattern. 2. It's spelled gyro (pyle gyro light) and pronounced GIE-R-OH. Hope this is some sort of help to you.
