@BritishPoliceMods You implied you were saying they are red to identify them as ARV's. you didn't even mention the spots in your post. You specifically said "they are red because they are armed responce vehicles".
They are red because they belong to the DPG section of the Met, they are not red because they are ARVs. They don't usually act as ARV's either (in the same way dedicated ARVs do), they just happen to contain armed officers due to the nature of their role.

@BritishPoliceMods That's incorrect. (Most) armed response vehicles in the UK are signified by yellow spots or asterisks on the vehicle (although as far as I know this is not compulsory insignia). If you look above you will see that these are red because they are cars used by the Diplomatic Protection Group within the Met police. This colouring of vehicles is unique to the Metropolitan Police Service.

They are the Diplomatic Protection Group. Its so visiting diplomats etc can tell who they are if they need assistance.

They are trained the same as normal ARV crews and will conduct an ARV role is required.

@BritishPoliceMods You are incorrect, the DPG DO NOT carry out the same duties as regular Armed Resonse personnel, they are dedicated to protecting Diplomats such as the Prime Minister.

@mattkaythetimelord The DPG protect diplomatic VIPs and locations around the city. This may involve protecting foreign diplomats or embassies in London. Yeah, The Geteway was quite incorrect for what it was.
