President Jimmy Carter - The Carter Center

Global X was in Atlanta recently, where he interviewed Jimmy Carter, who likes to describe himself as "a husband, the father of four children, grandfather of 11 and now great grandfather of one, head of the Carter Center for the past 25 years. And yes, former President of the United States!"

President Carter tells us what he saw in a small village in Ghana, and why he made the decision to eradicate the Guinea worm from our planet. Results so far: 99.7% accomplished!

He hopes that the US will become again the champion of peace (not of pre-emptive wars), the champion of human rights and preeminent in its dedication to justice. And he thinks that each of us can exemplify peace, justice, truth and humanity: "The most powerful people in a democracy are individuals."

President Carter got the peace prize too. You know Obama was nominated for the Nobel Peace prize twelve days after taking office. Upon acceptance of winning it, Obama was praised by the committee, "extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy". . They also gave the peace prize to Yasser Arafat, the leader of the PLO, the best known terrorist organization on the globe. This is like giving it to David Duke, the former Grand Wizard of the KKK.

Personally,I´m a bit shocked by these ever ongoing hate attacks towards Jimmy Carter.I know he didn´t excactly serve as president in America´s tricky times,but at least he had real ideals,maybe he just couldn´t realise most of them,and he probably would´ve been assasinated if he´d pushed them through,but after him,things got really freaky on a world´s scale.He got accused for not solving what neither president after him has not been able to solve!I only see more confusion ever since!

"The countries that they created in the 1920s"? Then who were those guys that came to power after WWI? The problem is all the people of the mid-east have ever known for 1400 years is warlord governments. Who's running Syria, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Lybia, Pakistan. Other nations there just trade in one dictator after another. What Jimmy forgot was you cannot deal with a dictator. Look at how these "leaders" treat their own and remember Lord Acton's cautionary observation!
