  • Thank you so much for posting this timeless classic by Perry Como. Merry Christmas & God bless you!

  • I found it. This is from the 1959 Album: "Christmas Greetings from Perry Como". On side 2 is, "The Story of the First Christmas". If you listen to this song as is, instrumentation as is, in relation to the narrative, it all makes sense. I think most of this is on You Tube. Go find it, and I'll be there. I grew up listening to this. I love it.

    Merry Christmas everyone.

  • you are misunderstanding This song done the way it is with the instruments has a larger reason than you know. I had the original album with this song on it. It's not the one pictured here. Side 2 of the album was called: "The Story of the First Christmas".Perry narrates the story of Mary and Joseph going to the stable. The songs were skillfully worked into the narrative. The music is foreboding because the story is foreboding. On the original the music makes you feel the danger of Jesus birth

  • @brav0wing thats pretty much what i was trying to say but you said it better. and also i think it was written in the middle ages and i cant imagine anything being to cheery at that time with plagues and all that

  • @ghostwhiskey I totally disagree, the song and the lyrics go together in harmony. Do not forget that when Jesus was born, King Herod was slaughtering children by the dozens. In all that darkness where Satan was running amok (the creepiness of instrumentation), Hope was born (the lyrics).

  • @MrFerty08 I think thats what you think im doing. i couldnt turn it into anything if i wanted to

  • @ghostwhiskey Can't you just leave it alone? It's a good song and quit trying to turn it into something that it's not.

  • ok,.now its getting weird but this song even has the word SATAN in it,i hope what im talking about comes across

  • than*

  • the sinister feel and overall creepieness of the instrumentation of this song goes totally against the sentiment of the lyrics, which i find to be beautiful.shit, sorry,i wanted to make the first comment on this be something more that a dude yelling "FIRST"
