For some bizarre reason, when I watched this as a kid, I actually found this scene to be very mesmerising, id always rewind and watch it again, looking back at it, it does have dark elements to it, in retrospect, it probably wasn't a good idea to place a scene like this in a kids movie.
does this come off as kind of hard to believe for anyone else? There's a murder investigation for a toon killing a man, but a man kills a toon and nobody bats an eye? Admittedly since pre-'dip' there was no method of killing them, it's reasonable that nobody bothered to make it illegal... but you'd think... all those police.. would be like 'hey.. stop'
Jar0fdirt63: Apparently, you've never heard of Raze's Hell, where the object of the game is to kill cute, cuddly creatures. Of course, they're hell-bent on exterminating all life on the planet, so I guess it doesn't really count. :P
And then there's Happy Tree Friends. if this made you sick, then you don't wanna see what goes on in HTF land.
I've always thought that the 1980s remains the one decade where the idea of what was a family/kids movie was constantly being subverted by directors who, unlike say Disney himself, weren't born family entertainers.
F-words (BIG, BEETLEJUICE) graphic violence (the first two Indy films), sexual innuendo (ROGER RABBIT most definitely) and just general WTF moments that must have raised parental eyebrows. And that scene above fits into the latter category brilliantly.

If you know the story behind his origins, you wouldn't be surprised on why he did that.
