@tobin2 well, if you really want to know, just as the frame changes you can't see Nureyev absolutely murdering Posse at 1.10: he's on Posse's inside at 1.08, then on his outside at 1.12! And keeps going right. If you see where Posse came from to finish 3rd, it wasn't a surprise that he lost the race: but in those days draconian laws meant he was placed last, not 3rd. These days nothing gets chucked out, but at the time Pat Eddery thought he'd've won if he'd not been so badly hampered.
Wrong to disqualify! He wasn't disqualified for bursting through the pact, it was because he drifted towards known fact and slightly hampered Posse in the closing stages. Never raced again.
Thanks for posting. If I remember, Nureyev was dq'd for interfering with Posse, as the Stewards thought that the placings would have been different. Even at the time the decision stank. Very good guineas though, apart from the first three there was also Tyrnavos who won the Irish Derby.
I have not seen this in years, how did Nureyev lose this race he done nothing wrong. I have seen worse interference and the culprit kept the race amazing verdict.

Well I'm a fan of the current French rules, but even under the current French rules, that wouldn't have been disq. Very poor decision.

Amazing that Nureyev was disqualified here. Won on merit, good thing that the rules have changed since.
