lol my grandma does that too or for a to go box she does it over her plate. my sister once got an e-mail that was like 10 signs your Filipino and this was one of them that and your pantry if stocked with spam and vienna sausages, those are the only two i remember

hmm. Now that I think of it, I do this subconsciously in any restaurant. I think they know what it means because a square represents either a bill or a to go box.

haha...I guess it's because we don't want to have the waiter waste time by going to the table, then going back to the counter to actually get the bill..signalling from afar saves time, and it works too :)
