Newcastle had an extremely good/fortunate run for about 7-8 games earlier on and that is all they have to stand on for the rest of the season. I will be surprised if they manage to finish in the top 10.

The league is a marathon, not a sprint, relegation is open for anyone and can't be put down to a penalty, if someone is strong enough, over 38 games, they'll stay up

Michael Owen will be laughing his head off, he's 33 and playing for a league winning side.

Newcastle are taking advantage of the bad form of Chelsea and Arsenal. The owen comment he left because of his wages, he was on around 100K a week.. that in the championship wouldnt cut out. As for Blackburn they've got no hope with steve kean, he's a nice guy.. but an old saying Nice guys finish last. Good by to blackburn see you in the championship along with Bolton and wigan.

I'm a Toon fan, but I think Michael Owen was right to move - he's not capable of starting many games at this point and that suits Man Utd where he's on a pay as you play deal and he's useful backup.

Newcastle were fortunate vs B'burn, but to win away without Tiote, S.Taylor, Cabaye, Ba, Cisse, Marveaux etc is an excellent result. Spurs were v.lucky to beat Sunderland 1-0 a few wks ago, Man C didn't deserve to beat Spurs, Newc outplayed Swansea, but it was 0-0.. You have to win ugly sometimes.
