President Rajapaksa has assured to dedicate himself to building a virtuous child generation which can go beyond the world safeguarding national ethos. He was addressing a ceremony at Royal College in Colombo.
The President pointed out that the world map cannot be drawn leaving out Sri Lanka. It was there in the map designed by Tolomy. It was located in an important place. He said the motherland should be located at an important place in the world map to be drawn in the future. He was confident that the children can discharge a major task to that extent. He told the children that they should study about their country. Sri Lankans had a proud history. The world cannot forget it. Everyone should study Sinhala, Tamil and English. They should also respect their mother tongue. The President pointed out that he spoke in his language where ever he traversed. He told the children that they had a country to protect. He wished that all children become Royals.
The 161st Annual Prize Giving of the College was held under the patronage of the President. Ministers Susil Premajayanth, Dinesh Gunawardena, Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, Mano Wijeratne, Naveen Dissanayake and Faizer Mustapha and School Principal Upali Gunasekera graced the occasion.
