These are 2 1/2 month old baby cockatiels that are just now ready to find their forever home. The beautiful handraised Cinnamon Pied in the beginning is definitey a little boy, as he's starting to chatter, or talk, he's also learned to wolfe whistle.

  • hi, i have a 9 week old cockatiel and his hair isn't all grown yet. Is he sick??

  • @vivi3722 I replied to the wrong post above, please read. I would love to see a pic of the baby from the front. Do you have a gram scale that you could weigh him? Where did you get the baby from? Is he making a crying, static y, sound and bobbing his head when he sees you?

  • @Tiels40 its ok i talked to my mom and she will bring him to a vet next week! Thx for the help:)

  • @vivi3722 That's good to know...please update me on your baby's health. Get him millet till you can take him to the vet.

  • @vivi3722 Tell your mom to be sure to get the baby to an Avian Vet, not a cat/dog vet. Only Avian Vets can properly treat your baby. If your Mom would like to correspond with me instead of you, that's fine. I'm a true bird lover that is willing to help. If the baby is eating fine, then there's really no need to take it to a Vet unless it stops eating. If you can afford it, a checkup with a Vet is always a good idea when you get a new animal of any kind. Good luck to you.

  • @Tiels40 thank you

  • you tube won't let me give you my email addy. I"m going to spell it out and you can put it together and email me so I can see a pic and we don't load up this wall. I really want to help you. My email is billnlari, use the "at" sign then sbc global dot net. Hopefully you can figure my email out. I tried just putting my email down and I kept getting an error.

  • @vivi3722 @vivi3722 What you described seems to be the parents plucked him/her. The feathers will grow back. My concern is that you say he seems skinny, at only 9 weeks old he's still just a baby. Is he eating well? What kind of food are you giving him? How long have you had your bird now? Millet is a great comfort food for chicks at that age. Let him have as much as he wants until he's around 4 months old. Do you have a pic?

  • @Tiels40 yes, his hair is not growing near his neck and head area. He has hair near his chest but it is very think. He is also skinny compared to your bird...

  • @vivi3722 Not likely your baby is sick...can you tell me where the feathers are missing, sometimes, in the wild, the parent birds will pluck a baby to get them to leave the nest so that the parents can lay eggs again. Cockatiels do the same in captivity. If the feathers are only missing on top of the head and the chest area, this is normal. There is also a disease called Giardia that can be passed to babies, it causes the bird to pluck the feathers. Let me know.
