This is the largest garden railroad in the world! Stunning. I don't know how well you can tell in the world of compressed video, but the colors are amazing. The garden is rich and clean, the paint on the cars is outstanding. There are a few shots where, if one did not know better, could almost pass as the real thing.
I personally loved the roadway trucks the most. These things actually roll on the ground and are driven by electric rails embedded in the concrete. The truck and car mechanicals date back decades.
A lot of everything was refurbished in the late 90s, but there are alot of pieces that date back. There are literally dozens of volunteers involved. The layout is so clean its hard to get your head around it all. I knew it was great, but I was just amazed at the detail, care, and creativity on display.
If you are planning a visit to California, come around the time of the Fair or on select holidays and weekends when its available for view.
