Son is the most widespread dance music genre to ever come out of Cuba. It is the basis for contemporary salsa around the world and for much of Latin jazz. Son, more than any other music, expresses the culture and spirit of the Cuban people. It has become national music. Today, a younger generation preserves the legacy of the great soneros.
I think you agree, that the son is currently played, using the 'Clave blanca 3/2'. But in the last concert of Manolito I have seen in Havanna, the drummer was using the 'Clave negra 2/3' so the strengh of Rumba is growing and with it the importance of the black influence!
An even deeper 'Cubania' then the Son...

If you try to comercialise son again, I think it is the wrong aproach, due to the fact, that even if it is right that Manolito, Adalberto, Van Van and other popular groups in Cuba are playing a modern Son, the concept is way more open, as it is in today's Rumba.
The huge amount of names is not really helpful, so why don't we all talk about 'La Timba Cubana'?

Son is coming from Santiago without clave! So, how can you talk about Son and rhythm without mentioning rumba?
The real raices of all rhythms in danceable cuban music is the rumba.
Please do some deeper research and don't delete constructive comments in facebook about the theme!
