I don't understand as big hindu women, why that woman wud take part in the parchaying ceremony bare headed and wearing clothing like that. come on alyuh shaming down our women when you show to world that in such an auspicious ceremony, you have no respect.

Wow, that has got to be the rudest groom I have ever seen. His pals sure had a lot of last minute girl advice to pass along while the bride walked in... the most important moment in her life up to that point!

im from UKborn to parents of eastern UP origin. You seem very knowledgable. In the UK there are no ppl from my parents background and I too have become very knowledgable regarding indians from trini, guyana, suriname, mauritius, fiji etc as they mainlyseem to have roots to eastern UP and bihar.
That is a Table Wedding, Usually it is done if both parties are not hindu, or the family can't afford a lavish full scale wedding, or the couple doesn't want the full 2-3 hour ceremony. Its done quite often in Trinidad actually.
The thing in front of the bride's face is called a Mowrie and its meant to hide the girl's face as she makes her way to where the ceremony is held. The solid piece is meant to start at her forehead, not like in this Video. Its mainly to ward of bad luck and evil eye.
