Parkway Drive - Carrion Cover

A cover of Parkway Drive's Carrion with a solo of my own (I thought the original one was boring, but I guess mine is too ^_^).

Recorded via line-in with Tracktion and LePou VSTs (LeGion amp into LeCab sim with Catharsis Impulses).

My Laney VH100R remains unrecorded due a lack of SM57 / decent recording interface.

Gear: Ibanez S520EX with Seymour Duncan Blackouts.

Is your VH100R running 6L6's or EL34's?

@CyanideSun1294 I've got 6L6s in it just now, but I think it sounds best with JJ E34Ls - they're a sort of hybrid between 6L6s and EL34s - lots of crunchy mids like the EL34s but a nice round low end like 6L6s.

Great cover! How do you get that tone? Whenever I use amp sims via line in they sound like fuzzy shit. Are you just using the sim and impulses or is there any extra EQ?

@Edlamb0306 I occasionally use an EQ to cut all frequencies above 9-10k and those below 100ish, helps to iron out the fizz and the flab - guitar is a midrange instrument anyway. To be honest, the sim and impulses don't sound too awesome on their own, but when you add in the other instruments (like on this song) it helps to take focus off just the guitar tone - a bass and drum track can do great things! Hope that helps.
