  • the lyrics of the korean version is so nice

on the other hand the american version doesn't even make sense -.-

oh teddy riley.... why sm? why?!

  • Like Sunny said in an interview, the lyrics can be interpreted in different ways.

I like the girl power interpretation myself. Keeping in mind their concept (since I LOVE fairy tales), I see the girls as princesses from their fairy tales. But these princesses don't need their princes to save them, so they "Bring the boys out" and deal with their own problems. Think Taeyeon's line towards the end: "The main character is you" That means that the girls should take charge and make their own story

  • @xXKRileyXx not everybody knows who they are -.- and i already said that of course it can't be like the korean version and we all have to admit that the english lyrics are weird

  • @manalinh0x0 But we gotta understand that if they could've song the song like the korean verison it would be harder for them because some of the words are more complicated and then you will hear a whole ruckus of people arguing about how they need to say in their own language and what not. Teddy Riley made a good song for them because the song broke them into the english market. Not that they weren't being acknoleged already but now everyone knows who they are now.

  • @xXKRileyXx of course the lyrics can't be the same but still teddy riley could have done it better

the english version makes no sense at all, i mean he is supposed to be one of the best composer so i expected more meaningful lyrics

  • @manalinh0x0 They had to match the beat of the song with the lyrics. If they could make it all the same lyrics then they would've. But they had to make it match unless you want everything to be off beat and everything. It wouldve been to complicated too. they aren't fluent in english (Excluding Jessica and Tiffany)

  • These lyrics are seriously great. No wonder it was a hit in Asia! Too bad the US pop industry isn't into the whole meaningful, deep lyrics.

  • @TheYumikesha I have evidence for this, just go to The Meaning of SNSD - The Boys.wmv

It has everything you need to find out the meaning

  • @TheYumikesha For example, sunny says:

"I can't just stand here and watch.

Even if it clashes and breaks numerous times, get up"

She didnt want to stand by as the big bad wolf attacked her! She stood up for herself.

    Taeyeon says:

    "History will be written anew

The main character is you - you!"

  • In the video they refused to be trapped in a fairytale, to be obedient to a prophecy that they didn't have control over.

THEY, as GIRLS, as WOMEN, took charge of their own lives

    - THEY DIDN'T NEED SAVING. They didn't need a prince or whatever to come and save them. they didn't need to be rescued. Instead of the boys (the princes) bringing the girls (the princesses) out, the GIRLS were bringing the BOYS out. Hence, GIRLS BRING THE BOYS OUT.

  • 1:12 is the song.

  • @superherovivien That is what I thought when I listened to the English version.
