Initiation of transcription by RNA polymerase II requires the assembly of multi-protein, pre-initiation complex on core promoter elements. TATA box binding protein (TBP) is responsible for promoter recognition and binds to bended minor groove of DNA with its saddle-like concave surface. Subsequent association of TF2A provides enhanced complex stability. The structure is from 1NVP.pdb (ref. Bleichenbacher et al. JMB v332, 783).

  • You live in a 'Musical' Universe.

  • Thank you wrb1957 for a nice word "Musical" Universe (or Microcosmos?). I'd like to imagine and listen to the dialog between macromolecules.
