Use the HQ button! This is the end of a the first 48 weeks of my second treatment for Hepatitis C, finished in May 2009. The treatment continued until I'd reached 72 weeks (October/November 2009). Please click on the user name oldhepatitis and visit the channel front page to watch the other two videos.
General description: The video content: - This is how you look after having had Hepatitis C for nearly 40 years and also after having taken medication for 48 weeks in 2008/2009, all because of a long term Hepatitis C infection. It is a video blog from my second (!) one year treatment in 2008 and 2009.
The look on the face is due to all the "Rebetol" capsules and new "Pegasys" injections I had to endure.
Statistics: I got infected aged 15 as a junkie and boy prostitute late in 1970. Went into rehab by 1972. Became a journalist (newspaper Aftenposten) and a member of the Norwegian union of journalists (NJ) from 1973. In the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) in Norway from 1980 onwards. Got suddenly diagnosed in 1998, that's 28 years of being infected without knowing. I have never had any uninfected adult life. But did I infect anyone? No, not even my son, born in 1986. My "version" of the HCV does not seem to infect anyone via unprotected sex. That's fine, but nowadays, being open about my long term infection, I am not attractive. I live on my own. Problem solved.
This one year treatment is with the new and glorious version of the Pegasys wonder medication. The side effects was like the last time I endured such an unpleasant year. I had fever and a lot of other side effects too, and I remember them all from the year 1999/2000. Just watch the other virus killer videos.
I was on a sick leave, of course. As a genotype 1 long term infected with increasing physical damage to my liver, I was doing my best here.
I now have several video blogs from two different years of treatment on The Hepatitis C Channel on YouTube. One of my other channels on YouTube are The Uvdal Channel where I have the user name of nadflah.
Treatment started: June 11th 2008.
Date: Shot on May 6th 2009 and published to YouTube.
Treatment: Ullevaal University Hospital, Norway.
Isolated location: Solvskottberget, Gudbrandsdalen, Norway.
Music: "Hallelujah" by Georg Friedrich Händel.
Complaining patient, performer and video blogger: Erik Meyn.
