Got a new cam, and wanted to draft some shorthand lessons. Hope you like the first draft - it will get better once I find more time. The pages used in this video lesson at edu2002.net/alpha1.html. Search web for "alpha shorthand" to download a self-teaching ebook.... Or try: edu2002.net/alphascan.pdf or AlphaScan.pdf material free for download.

UPDATE, more info:

Re: Alpha Shorthand: Due to occasional emails with demand for "more" of this shorthand, emails from around US as well as overseas, including UK and Australia, from clerks, secretaries, university students, businessmen, I decided to do all the lessons in the AlphaScan.pdf ebook (download updated book from the link given here) as well as the Exercises (link repeated below). I use the same camera in my earlier vids (the Canon HV20), and downconverted the huge high quality m2t files to Youtube preferred mp4s - these may look rough due to fast conversion without editing. Now you get a complete Alpha Shorthand demo of each shorthand and the exercise list of words and phrases. Some shorthand users who prefer to see a demo of each one will find that request answered on my website. edu2002.net/alpha1.html. I spent a week taping all 17 lessons, so have a look.

I put a free ebook download at the link that shows how to write the most frequent words, as well as the most common word parts, meaning the ending (suffix), beginning (prefix), and root for most words. If you do a web search for "most frequent words" in the English language, you will see that my Alpha Shorthand handles all of them. The educational Goal here: to help you write faster and more efficiently all your notes, classwork, research, messages, job writing, creative writing, etc. Look on my Youtube Channel for my demo of how I write, for example, The Pledge of Allegiance. I use Alpha Shorthand when I do messages, notes, dictation, research, manuscripts, and so on. The videos here show a sample only. The basic notewriting system allows the making of logical short forms for vocabularies for all kinds of documents, and in legal work, as well as medical, business, research, school work, etc. I put a free ebook download at the link, as well as all the info you may want to know. I started work on a video cd to teach the shorthand and demo all exercises.

BTW, for someone who asks, I turn off rating and comments (except w approval) on some videos I create for an education purpose and not for rank or popularity. I will sometimes turn those features back on when I have time to respond, then off when I get busy. I appreciate your understanding. Not my intent to inconvenience anyone. You may reach me through my website, and I reply when time permits.

  • You know...it amazes me that no matter the subject, you can always find someone who is willing to start an argument online - hilarious

  • Interesting. Thank you for that.

  • Shorthand was invented to write quicker and for oral dictation, before typewriters and siri on iphones

  • @tHe6RuStY6sAiLoR6 You can write notes down quickly. Good for class + college.

  • Just as a matter of interest, are ALL shorthands based on "whay you hear" when taking dictation? In one shorthand, the word THE is a hyphen In another system, they use a deicmal point. But, basically, they have the same meaning. And they say Pitman is the Rolls Royce of Shorthand, invented by a Britishman from the state of England. If a Britishman from the state of Scotland had invented it, it would be called McPitman or Mackpitman!! Gregg was invented by an Irishman living in USA!

  • What is the point of shorthand?

  • Oh my gosh! That's so clever! I was wondering how each symbol was contrived! It's "that" is "the" + "t" wow thanks for the video! I'm gonna learn Alpha shorthand!

  • thanks so much. you are a very good teacher. thanks for sharing. Only wish i knew that during college

  • Alpha shorthand fucking sucks. Gregg is wayyyy more intelligent and logical.

  • lol short and small goes faster! dont forget that
