Hi ich hab ein Problem bei meiner alten HK 500... die hab ich mir vor n Paar Wochen über unseren Schirmeister beim THW besorgt. (Tipp wenn ihr günstig an eine dran kommen wollt müsst ihr bei nahe gelegenden Ortsverbänden mal nachfragen...) auf jeden fall leuchtet die lampe nicht gleichmässig, sondern "dimmt" runter und wieder rauf in gleichbleibenden abständen aber auch nicht extrem sondern nur ganz leicht...kann mir einer helfen???

@TheCrowoutofHell : Hi, kommt bei älteren Modellen, die lange gestanden haben gerne mal vor. da hilft am besten komplett zerlegen, gründlich reinigen und den Tank vor allen Dingen gründlichst von innen entschlacken, dazu nimmt man Aceton oder Natronlauge ein paar Schrauben rein und kräftig schütteln !. Mit Powerbref aus der Drogerie habe ich auch gute Erfahrungen gemacht. Flackern kann man auch, wenn alles sauber ist, mit einer Vergserstopfung, z.B. mit Messinggaze oder Glasseidenschnur beheben

Sag mal hast du eine Spreizfeder unterm Pumpenleder? Man sieht ja keine Leerhübe.

Nein, damals das Pumpenleder nur gut in techn. Vaseline getaucht, heute verwende ich aber auch ein Spreizblech, welches gute Dienste leistet

All the so called original Petromax 500 are atually manufactured in China und licence, the only way to get made in Germany is to buy from stores selling BUNDESWEHR stuff, mostly lanterns from 1960-1970, some of then are even untouched and from unbeatable quality. Look for example at ebay or pelam.de

Far too noisy and for most camps, way too bright. Better to have 2 or 3 kerosene (paraffin) lamps instead. Yes, a bit prone to leaks if disturbed or over-filled, but silent, attractive light and far cheaper too run. The cost of wicks is nothing compared to new mantles.

Hi, it`s def. not "far too noisy" cause the cheap mikrofone on my digicam made id so loud. Anyway i will give you sonn an impression for a petromax construction driven by ethyl alcohol = spiritus, you can work with a spiritus lantern with very low pressure, cheap refill costs and def. low noises. The "pure" Petromax is for enthusiasts only and it cant be ever to have a too bright light, but low shining is worse. So wait for my "alcohol-Lamp" in a modified construction. These lanterns plain rule. Love the sound of the preheater. They put out a ton of light.  Much more personality than a Coleman, IMO>.....

Very good lamps. Almost burnt down my house the first time i lit it up. Recommandation to all: check the main valve is closed before lighting the rapid burner.
