i had the opportunity of fighting both Brian Jacks.and Neil Adams.when i was london junior champion in the 80s.i used to train in the Budokwai.
that time all the internationals where training there.so i got loads of great tuition from great Judokas.i think at that time Britian had some of the best judokas in the world.we used to really kick ass then,
now i still love Judo but i train more in jiu jitsu.even though it is not as spectacular as Judo.
The score was correct - the guy didn't land flat on his back.
The position in which the uke lands is the primary consideration when awarding a score. The impetus is only of concern if considering awarding an ippon.
Referees who award an ippon simply because the throw is fast and/or powerful are not doing their job properly. Unfortunately many competition referees don't score properly.
Its a shame judo is no longer like this. This is how i remember things, not the modern ippon judo.

HE only got a waza ari for the foot sweep at the beginning. I have seen less forceful throws given ippons!

Probably the best judoka the UK has ever had. Adams is a legend, thanks for posting this
