I have the Jochum interpretation and the Klemperer interpretation of this work. This is certainly not rushed. this is the finale with the recapitulation of the Thema (Leitmotif) of the work. great development from 3:00 to the coda. A bit of trivia. Furtwangler's father was an Archeologist, speicalising in Egyptology. May explain the the "Otherworldliness" of this interpretation, which I also comprehend in listening.
Oh no! Furtwaengler is no great conductor. He is a channeler, a mystic. That is what you don't find anymore, what with conductors acting as though they have metronomes ticking away with them on the podium. This is vital, living music making in the middle of berlin during WWII. Of course it is fast and raw. How else should it be?
3:09..........Great.

Wonderful interpretation. I love the way he slams on the brakes around 3:32 onwards. It is exactly what the music calls for.
