turn your back on our founding fathers? This is a asinine comment, for several reasons. First, implicit within it is a belief in the infallibility of the founders. Second, the founders lived in premodern era, which was governed by a very different dynamic. There is an inextricable link amid their views and the context in which those views were formed. Ergo, we can't be sure of their views regarding modern issues. Finally, Thomas Paine supported, a proto-social/ist democracy - turning my back?
