@polster22 really... did you even notice that it was not even a 41... that's the Coast Guard Auxiliary there buddy. But yes it was at fault of the coxswain. Unfortunately the Coast Guard was given a bad rep here, but not at fault to the Coast Guard, this was auxiliary playing cops again...

@seanlee747 True indeed. But the CG was in a hurry to make sure that someone's flares weren't two days our of time and someone else's class IV throwable wasn't too soft for the new standards even though it is USCG approved anyway. Prolly looking for the guy who used a combination padlock to secure his MSD so they can quiz him about "how can you be sure none of the passengers know the combination?"

"WE WEREN'T WAVIN' FOR CELEBRATION" ....haha they deserved to be sunk

Thanks for your service, it's tough enough on the water w/o this. And you nailed it.

This happened in Milwaukee, Wi on board a Coast Guard Auxiliary Boat. The Aux Coxswain was clearly at fault no matter how you look at it. He failed to take any and all action necessary to avoid a collision. He was a wanna be that was showing off to the TV crew on board while enforcing a security zone for fireworks. I know I was a Coxswain at station Milwaukee at the time.

shit like this pisses me off. its like someone who pulls out to early for a left turn and oncoming traffic not slowing down because its not there fault. who cares whose fault it is if you can avoid a accident or collision then why the fuck not!

Thats what you get! lol. Pay more attention next time. Its a good thing no one was hurt

There is plenty of stupidity by the civilian boater the USCG is clearly at fault.
I think that was the end of that man's career.

USCG skipper should be discharged, using his boats status and authority to force the other to yield.
-
Its my understanding that the civilian boat had the right of way (converging from the right side.) Is this true?
The coxswain should have adjusted. This was a case of the coxswain being ignorant.

I am a USCG Coxswain, and I think its obvious that this collision was the fault of the 41 coxswain. They were not in a narrow channel, they were not protecting a high value asset, and they were aparently not concerned with risking the lives of the general public. I had hoped to find some explanation to defend our guys here, but, judging from the video alone, there is no excuse.
