Some melodic rambling through an interesting backing track that keeps changing key. Played in Dropped-D on my Strat. This kind of improvisation is done without thinking scales or modes, just chords. If you'd like to learn how it's done, drop into http://www.thatllteachyou.com

  • The back track resembles too heavily Frank Zappa's Sexual Harassment in the work place. Please check this Zappa's tune. It's one of the most beautiful blues ever recorded and you'll probably enjoy it.

  • @nikl289 ... Yeah, you're right. I'd never heard tune that before... very similar. Frank was great.

I didn't put the backing track together, it's one that was floating around the net. From a playing point of view, it's the key changes that are fun in this one, though. Keeps you on your toes.

  • Pelease give us this backing track

  • @strwy2hvn94 ... had a look, can't find it, I'm afraid.

  • @bohs1984 ... it was Baboon's Ass Pink before I stripped it off and brought it back to wood. It's a 1963 Strat, bought in London in '73, set up by none other than Seymour Duncan, who worked at Fender Sound House back then, and who joined my band shortly after.

  • @strwy2hvn94 make it yourself! the chords are Bmin7----Emin7----Bmin7----D7--E7-- similiar to the "thrill is gone" by BB King. A great minor blues, just move the whole thing up one step at a time until the starting chord becomes D minor, then start the modulation again from the Bminor (happens at about 2:20 seconds in). You CAN use only chord tones to create a solo but it basically starts in D Major so you can build any scale(mode) from there and move it up one step with the chords, GOOD LUCK :)

  • Kirk what is your pickup configuration on the strat?

  • there is a perfect example that speed really doesn't matter...
