i simply cannot sleep on my side or back. i'm a stomach sleeper and can't sleep any other way. i know it's bad, but otherwise i don't sleep, and that's worse.

@jigglefloyd Oh who cares about Islam?? Dude, it was 1400 years ago; time to move on. He probably slept on a hard floor which is a little different.

@posturedoc Great video doc. Just thought you should know the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) gave humankind guidance concerning how to sleep over 1400 years ago. He slept on his right side, placed his left arm along the side of his body and he placed his right hand, palm facing upward, underneath his head to give him some leverage like that of a pillow. He was an example to us in all matters of life, and told us to sleep like him either on the side or on the back, but never on the stomach.

Thus, sleeping on the right side is the correct position as the left lung is smaller than the right one and the pressure on the heart would therefore be less which is good for individuals suffering from heart conditions, the liver would not be suspended, and the stomach would be on it and so emptying its contents would be quicker. Moreover sleeping on the right side is one of the best medical interventions to facilitate the excretion of the mucous secretions of the left respiratory bronchioles.:)
I get out of bed the way you do, but will it affect minor scoliosis?

@Mrkbballin24 Should have negligible impact. But if you're concerned, once you get up just lay back down and do it from the other side to give the opposite load to the other side to even yourself out.
