Tropical storm Jeanne officially made landfall with an intensity of 70mph at Puerto Rico. There is still discussion about whether it was a tropical storm or a hurricane at time of landfall. Just two weeks after experiencing hurricane Frances in Florida I was being directly chased by another tropical cyclone. The center of Jeanne passed right over my house in Gurabo (East-Central PR) at around noon of September 15. As I live in an inland valley, sustained hurricane force winds were not experienced and winds were mostly in the tropical storm intensity. Still some gusts were at or approaching hurricane intensity. Damage to the southeast coast of the island (Yabucoa) was more significant and video will be posted later. Jeanne is the last tropical cyclone to hit directly Puerto Rico to the date.

  • @huracanado1 Hope to see one there and in south florida this year!!!

  • @vmax135 Michael so much thanks! Later I'll post the video with damage survey in the SE Coast at landfall area. There you will be able to have a more in-depth analysis of the wind damage left by Jeanne in PR. It was specially strong in Yabucoa from the damage I saw there...

  • AWESOME video, Jose!!! I've never seen footage from Jeanne in Puerto Rico before... especially given these winds are at an inland location, it definitely seems plausible that Jeanne had made it to hurricane strength before making landfall. On the radar loop it really looks like it was wrapping up fast just before it crossed the southeast coast!
