Most bizarre trailer I've ever seen. From Let's Make A Deal circa mid 1970's. I first thought this was a 5th wheel camping trailer until they showed the clip of a full size Buick screaming through a field bouncing the trailer behind. What was he running from?

I am posting this because I have never seen any trailer that mounted to the roof of your car. This technology was before my time. If there is anyone out there who has any information on this type of trailer, I encourage you to post it in the comments. Help me learn about the crack smoking engineers that lived in the 70's. ;)

  • yeah!!!... try to pull this thing with a 1.3 engine (yes, I have seen the VW video already)

  • @octaviozl I still want to know why this guy is hauling ass through the campground like he's in the middle of a police chase.

  • @monaco74 not a buick its a 1968 chevrolet

  • @TheHotrod1964 I can't find a 1968 Chevy that matches. What model is the car? It isn't an Impala because those had turn signals integrated into the front corners of the fendes.

  • when are they releasing this new concept?

  • @TheHotrod1964 Nope, its a 1970.

  • @monaco74 It is a 1970 Impala.

  • There is one huge reason why this design would be outlawed now: STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY! Specifically the structural integrity of the roof. I don't know how much it weighs, but even if it were being pulled by a Hummer, you'd be asking questions about it damaging the structural members of the roof. 5th wheelers are an excellent compromise, and if you can't reverse one of those, you have no business pulling something that big

  • Whole new wrinkle...ON your roof!

  • Hi thanks for the memories. This set up was fantastic and I really don't understand why they stopped making them, you never had any trailer swaying at speed because of it being pulled from the centre of the roof. Also as you saw backing and parking was a snap, a really great setup, the big problem was making sure the hitch on the roof was as strong as possible, I suppose that with the light weight plastic cars we drive now it would be a bit different. Anyway thanks for the great old memory.

  • @pleacher lmao under extreme driving conditions....lmfao. If you're pulling a camping trailor and the conditions are liek that......STOP!!!

  • Holy Hotpants

  • Dad I was on the Toilet!!
