  • My favorite Papegeno as well...

  • 1:46 FAIL

  • I like him more in lighter roles. just saw him at the HD production of Don Carlo and he just doesn't have a dark Verdi voice. he handled the high tessitura well (as a baritone, the high tessitura of that role made me think "dear God!") but he doesn't have that dark, bass-like timbre and easy resonance that are needed to comfortably sing Verdi. that being said, his acting made up for everything (he made me bawl my eyes out in the last act and I almost never cry ;(

  • I really want to buy his hat.

Can I get is from anywhere? lol

  • remember, this joyful music was going on in parallel with the requiem, amazing mozart

  • One usually thinks of Papageno as Mozart's autobiographical joke in an operatic omedy populated mostly by what today's audiences might call PREPPIES or YUPPIES. How exactly Keenlyside's beautiful tone production and good stage movement exemplify Papageno's goodness, sincerity and unusually high moral character, the point of Mozart;s joke, is unclear.

  • best acting from a papageno...

  • bravo et merci

  • @MrGufidaun The only thing Tamino says during the "intro" of Papageno's aria is "What is it I hear? Oh look, a man is coming"

I don't think Mozart would have had a problem with Tamino showing a wondering face in stead of saying this one short line.

You'd be amazed how much the libretti are changed and cut in opera productions...

    Sie schlief an meiner Seite ein;

ich wiegte wie ein Kind sie ein.
