Musicians get emotional about their instruments; DJs feel the same way about their lighting and audio gear. So, just like BB King named his favorite guitar "Lucille" and Eric Clapton played his beloved "Brownie" Stratocaster in the '70s, DJs have come up with affectionate pet names for their lighting and audio gear.

The aim of this contest is to get DJs to share some of their pet names for American DJ lighting products and American Audio gear, and recount the stories behind those names in short (3 minute or less) videos.

Entering is simple: just submit a video of no longer than 3 minutes in length, sharing the story behind your favorite American DJ or American Audio product. If you don't currently have an American DJ or American Audio product with a name, you can still enter the contest by sharing the name that you would give your dream American DJ or American Audio product if you owned it. You do not have to purchase that product to participate in this contest.

So go ahead, let your imagination run wild, and share the stories behind the names you've given (or would like to give) the cooled DJ gear around!
How The Contest Works:
Contestants are invited to submit videos about the pet name they have given a specific American DJ lighting product or American Audio product. The videos, which must be 3 minutes or shorter in length, should tell the story behind how the equipment got its name.

The videos can include lighting, music and sound/visual props. All material must be in good taste. Videos with lewd or offensive material will be immediately disqualified. Videos can be up to 3 minutes in length and must represent original work by the contestant. By submitting the video, contestant warrants that the work is original and violates no copyright laws. The contestant also agrees to hold American DJ, American Audio and their agents harmless against any and all claims that may arise from the creation and distribution of contest videos.

Videos must be submitted as YouTube Video responses to DJ Brian Redd's "The American DJ "What's In A Name?" Video Contest!" Contest video on his YouTube channel.
