Dutch DNA 2011

What makes the Dutch culture so distinctive? Maybe it's something in the country's DNA. We're not necessarily talking about a propensity to produce tall, blonde and blue-eyed natives (though there's that too), but rather a fundamental quality in the Dutch character that makes them creative, progressive and pragmatic all at once.

'Dutch DNA', the country's theme for 2011, is also a heritage of determined people who built an empire from swampland. This tiny nation has been packing a serious punch ever since its Golden Age and its mark on the
world remains as strong as ever.
